Does Google Plus Confuse You?

Vianka2by Vianka McConville

How much do you know about Google Plus (G+)?  When posing the question to my peers, I tend to receive lukewarm answers indicating ‘not much.’ I decided to find out why.

For those of you wondering, G+ is Google’s social media outlet that combines features from a number of other outlets into one.  It brings together the hashtag capability from Twitter that allows users to track a conversation, status updates from Facebook, “hangouts” which is similar to Skype, plus integrates You Tube and Gmail.  The list of capabilities is overwhelming and it doesn’t stop there.

For example, Google announced earlier in the year that people with a G+ account and a Gmail address now have the ability to email another G+ and Gmail user without knowing the email address.  This means more than 425 million Gmail users are one G+ account away from receiving random email unless they opt out.  On the other hand, it could be a unique way to target an audience, including influencers or journalists if done on a case-by-case basis.

After reading everything that G+ offers I came to the conclusion that it takes too much work to figure out how to use it.  The platform is confusing.  I expect Google to continue adding features to G+ in the hopes of drumming up user interest and wonder how long it will take to realize a simple approach to social media is better.  The lack of a learning curve is a benefit, not a detriment.

From there, it draws out the voltage and gives the continuous feel of smoking.
Either that, or they are using the highly controversial e-cigarette to cover up the fact that the fire was the hospital’s fault.
